I had a conversation with someone last week that really reiterated for me the importance of an email list.

I was at a networking event and I met a lovely lady for the first time. After I told her that I help women in business grow their email lists she said “I’m just starting to build my list at the minute because I fell out with Instagram.”

She then went on to explain that she had posted a quote she had seen online but was informed by the platform that she had quoted the source incorrectly.

Although she explained that it was a genuine error and offered to rectify it her account was suspended for 90 days!!

90 whole days!

That was 90 days without being able to communicate to her audience.

90 days of not being able to promote her services.

90 days of being unable to engage and build that know, like and trust factor with her potential clients.

Could you manage that? Would your business survive? Or are you solely reliant on social media platforms for sales?

If so, I would highly recommend that you think about starting your own email list.

You own your email list so you will always be able to communicate with your audience even if social media channels block your accounts or go out of service (anyone remember the great Facebook blackout of October 2021??)

Luckily this story has a happy ending for this lady as she now has access to her account again. But she has also recognised the importance of am email list, has designed a fabulous freebie for her audience and is using it to grow her email list.

I would hate for you to have to experience this and hopefully you never will, but to be on the safe side do yourself a favour and start your email list.
