Promote Your Course with an Evergreen Funnel

October 02, 20223 min read

Do you have an online course? Or are you thinking about creating an online course?

If so, how do you intend to let people know why they should invest in your course when there are so many other courses competing with yours?

The answer is via an evergreen funnel of course!

What is an Evergreen Funnel?

Firstly, let’s get the jargon out of the way.

An evergreen sales funnel is an automated system that sells your course, all day, every day, to your audience.

The fact that they are automated means that the work is put in at the time of building the funnel (i.e. designing your sales pages, integrating payment systems, writing the email sequence, etc.) so that it takes very little maintenance going forward.

Once you have your evergreen funnel set up, your audience are able to purchase it anytime they like. This works well because many of your customers will be actively seeking a course like yours. They’re primed and ready to buy. They do not want to have to wait weeks for a live webinar or your next launch! They want what you have right now!

How do I create an Evergreen Funnel?

Firstly, as with any funnel – simple is best! You do not need to overcomplicate the process. In fact, here are the 3 elements that you need to build out your first evergreen funnel.

1. A Fab Freebie

If you’ve followed me for a while then you will have heard me banging on about the importance of a good lead magnet to attract your ideal clients.

You may have different products or services in addition to your online course and freebies that lead nicely to those offers. But I would recommend looking at a specific freebie to attract the type of person who really wants to buy your course.

That means that your lead magnet should be specifically related to your online course. If your course is on building your own WordPress site, you don’t want a lead magnet related to blogging. Make it relevant!

If you’re stuck on which lead magnet to choose, this blog may help.

2. An Epic Email Sequence

The purpose an evergreen email sequence is to identify the problem and establish you (and your online course) as the best solution for this problem. I.e. By the end of the email series it will be the next logical step to purchase your course.

Keep your emails to the point and packed with value so that your audience will want to continue opening every email in the series.

Then make an irresistible offer in the last email of the series!

3. An Evergreen Webinar

For some people, particularly if your course is low cost, the offer you make at the end of your email series will be enough to make them hit the ‘Buy Now’ button. But for others they may need a little more time.

This is where an evergreen webinar or masterclass works well. A pre-recorded webinar that you can send to those people who don’t buy now allows you to give them additional value and further explain the benefits of your course.

So you see, an evergreen funnel doesn’t have to be complicated at all! And consider this, each day that goes by where you don’t have your evergreen funnel set up, you are losing out on course sales!
