5 Ideas for Christmas Emails

November 30, 20223 min read

It’s Christmassssssss!!!!

Well, almost! I love Christmas, or more specifically I love the build up to Christmas! December is without a doubt my favourite month.

I love the kids’ excitement. I love decorating the house. I love the cheesy Christmas songs (80’s Christmas Pop is my playlist for the month!) I love the mince pies. I love the family gatherings. I love the nights out. I love the cinnamon scented everything. And I even love the Elf on the Shelf (for the first few days anyway!)

But mostly I love the fact that most people are in a good mood for the entire month. There’s a definite buzz around the weeks leading up to the day itself. And if you have an email list, I sincerely hope that you are using that buzz to your advantage!

If you haven’t already thought about your email campaign then I’ve got 5 really simple ideas for something to spread a little joy to your subscribers this month.

1. A Gift Guide

Whether you are a product-based business selling ideal gifts or a service-based business offering gift vouchers, make sure to send an email out ASAP letting people know what and how they can purchase. Be sure to include last shipping dates to guarantee delivery before Christmas.

I then suggest following this up with a gentle reminder a couple of days before the deadline letting your subscribers know that it’s the last chance to buy before Christmas.

2. Special Discount Code

Make your subscribers feel special by offering them an exclusive code for being a loyal subscriber. This will allow people to see that it is beneficial being on your email list and they will want to continue to open future emails to see what value you are offering.

If you are choosing to send a discount code campaign, I would send this out ASAP and then follow up a day before the discount expires to remind people that it’s their last chance to buy at the reduced price.

3. Show Your Appreciation

Use this opportunity to say a big ‘Thank You’ to those on your list for supporting you for the last year. If you have a freebie that you can offer people to reward them then this is the ideal opportunity to do it. Make sure it is something of value and relevant to your business.

4. Continue to Share Valuable Content

Just because it’s busy coming into the festive season, don’t fall off the bandwagon! If you have been consistently sending regular emails then continue to do so. Your ideal clients will still be wanting to hear what valuable content you have to share. Keep up the momentum that you’ve worked so hard all year to build.

5. Send a Christmas Card

This is an obvious one but not everyone does it! Send warm wishes to your subscribers with a Christmas eCard. You might choose to share a festive photo of you, your family, your dog, etc… or a gorgeously designed, on-brand graphic – Canva have loads of templates to choose from!!

Simply take this opportunity to wish your subscribers a very merry Christmas and all the best for 2023!
